Russell Pottharst - Professional Summary:

 

Russell Pottharst  is a highly respected project manager and program management consultant who currently resides in Newbury Park, California. Since April 2011, Mr. Pottharst has served as a project manager for the Ascent Services Group, a nationally ranked staffing and recruiting firm specializing in technological professional services. Russell Pottharst’s expertise in managing systems operation projects has also brought him to projects across the country, as well as throughout Europe, over the past 20 years.

Russell Pottharst earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems cum laude from Tulane University  in 1993. In 1995, he received an MBA in International Business Management at Loyola University  New Orleans. While pursuing degrees at these two prestigious universities, Russell Pottharst also held positions at two different banks in New Orleans. There, Russell Pottharst first employed his computer experience in a managerial capacity and laid the foundation for what would become his area of expertise: project management.

Before he even earned his Bachelor’s degree, Russell Pottharst took the examination to obtain his Associate Computing Professional certification, which he received in 1990. This was the first of many certifications that Mr. Pottharst would acquire in his quest for professional development. Russell Pottharst’s passion for his field spurred him to earn his Project Management Professional certification (PMP) of the Project Management Institute in 1996. He also holds certifications in eBusiness Project Management, E-Commerce Fundamentals, and Principles of Earned Value Management from the College of Performance Management. In 2006, Russell Pottharst earned his Six Sigma Overview Certification from SixSigma.us. Six Sigma is a proven methodology for improving business performance through an integrated, regimented approach. More recently, Russell Pottharst  became a certified ScrumMaster through the Scrum Alliance; Scrum is a framework for completing multifaceted, fast-changing projects.

Russell Pottharst is as invested in maintaining excellence in his profession as he is in furthering his personal development in the industry. Between 1995 and 2000, Mr. Pottharst actively participated in the Professional Management Institute’s local chapters and served in various capacities, ranging from the Director of Operations to the Vice President of Education and Certification. Moreover, between 2001 and 2005, Russell Pottharst contributed to the development of PMI’s PMP credential examination, served on the organization’s Professional Conduct Review Committee, and participated in the Cut Score Session in Sweden, where he assisted in updating examination credentials.
