North Carolina native Roy Carroll has made his mark in his hometown of Greensboro. As CEO, founder, and Chairman of real estate developer The Carroll Companies, Roy Carroll has spearheaded numerous projects to renovate and improve Greensboro neighborhoods, including the recent restoration of a vacant 17-story building downtown. Unused for more than 15 years, the once unsightly building now serves as a multi-use residential, retail, and office space, directly across from a revitalized city park. Roy Carroll's leadership of the project earned him the Downtown Greensboro Person of the Year award, as well as a place on the Triad's Most Influential People list, published by The Business Journal of the Greater Triad Area. Since launching The Carroll Companies in 1984, Roy Carroll has expanded his business into one of the largest and most successful real estate development groups in the Carolinas. Roy Carroll now oversees five firms that make up The Carroll Companies, including Carroll Investment Properties, Alaris Homes, Carrolland Corp., Capstone Management Company, and Park View Development. Roy Carroll founded The Carroll Companies after his education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. A committed member of his community, Roy Carroll devotes much of his time to the fight against diabetes. Roy Carroll implemented a “Building an End to Diabetes” program in 2006 and raised $634,000 over the next four years in donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Roy Carroll also serves on numerous community boards, including the Piedmont Triad Film Commission, Greensboro College, and the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro.
