Ronald J. Pawley, a veteran chemical fire prevention/protection professional, possesses over 20 years of experience in numerous roles which eventually led to his position as Executive Deputy Fire Chief of the Kodak Fire Department at Eastman Kodak Company. In 1953, Ronald J. Pawley began working at Eastman Kodak Company, a business in the film and chemical industry located in Rochester, New York. Shortly after joining the company Ronald J. Pawley took a leave of absence. Already in the Army Reserves Ronald J. Pawley was called in for active duty and left to serve his country. After completing his tour of duty, Ronald J. Pawley returned to Kodak and signed on as a chemical firefighter with the Kodak Fire Department (KPFD). In the 1980's, the Kodak Park Fire Department had been praised as one of the largest international chemical firefighting organizations. Ronald J. Pawley began operating as a chemical firefighter before quickly advancing through the ranks to Inspector, Lieutenant, Captain, and Line Deputy. From Line Deputy (1983), Ronald J. Pawley accelerated to the prestigious position of Executive Deputy Fire Chief. As Executive Deputy Fire Chief, Ronald J. Pawley often assumed the responsibilities of Fire Chief including employment, job enrichment and personnel development programs, and assigning promotions. Ronald J. Pawley also served as the Incident Commander for numerous emergency response calls where he directed, supervised, and organized the deployment of firefighters and other rescue personnel. Under Ronald J. Pawley’s leadership, the Kodak Fire Department was responsible for the prevention of and emergency response to chemical fires. They operated out of the largest industrial complex on the Northeast coast of the United States and collaborated with Eastman Kodak Company’s staff and supervision, which at that time consisted of over 60,400 employees.
