Roman Hitchev fills many roles in the standardization and regulation of tissue banks around the world, maintaining quality assurance for tissue used in life-changing procedures. As Chief Medical Officer for Osteotech’s Bulgarian subsidiary, Roman Hitchev oversees donations to Pirogov Hospital in Sofia, as part of the national public tissue bank of Bulgaria.
Through the investments of Roman Hitchev’s company, Bulgaria has benefited from the creation of more than 200 jobs, which have provided a needed boost to the economy. Roman Hitchev also manages a partnership between Osteotech and the Scoliosis Research Society, enabling American orthopedic surgeons to travel to treat Bulgarian children with scoliosis. He additionally holds the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bulgarian Association of Tissue Banks, and he is a key contributor to Bulgaria’s continued growth in this important medical field.
