About Roland De Wolfe

Roland de Wolfe was born in 1979 in London, United Kingdom. Today he is one of the world’s most recognised poker players and is a former writer for the Inside Edge poker magazine. Roland de Wolfe did not choose the typical career path to becoming the famous professional poker player that he is today. In his younger years, Roland spent much of his time hustling in pool bars. As the years passed, Roland continued to player pool and snooker while he started covering poker tournaments as a journalist rising to the publishing ranks where he became a poker editor of the Inside Edge, a British gambling magazine. Astonishingly, his skill did not rise from years of practice, as he only started to professionally play 3 years ago. But his journalist career quickly translated into personal success at the poker tables. Roland’s first biggest victory came in 2005 when he claimed the first place title at the World Poker Tour Grand Prix de Paris where he went head to head to battle out the 1st place title with Juha Helpi, who was the former champion.

Shortly after his quick rise to victory and later on that year, de Wolfe cashed in big in the $1,000 No Limit Hold’em event at the World Series of Poker (2005 WSOP). In the $15,000 Main Event at the 2005 World Poker Tour Five Diamond World Poker Classic, Roland also managed to put the medal to the pedal and cashed in. As of yet, Roland de Wolfe is the only poker player to win championship events on both the WPT and EPT. At the April 2006 World Poker Tour World Championship (at the Bellagio) he came in at 3rd place out of 605 other poker runners - winning himself a prize of over $1,000,000. In June 2006, Roland won 2 cash prizes at the WSOP and also finished in 3rd place at the $2,000 No Limit Shootout. Incredibly, Roland de Wolfe is on a winning streak and shows no signs of letting up any time soon. He earned himself an incredible first place prize of $691,000 at the October 2006 European Poker Tours Main Event in Dublin, Ireland. Roland de Wolfe also reached the 2008 Late Night Poker Tournament where he finished in 2nd place. De Wolfe is no stranger to quick rise to success, and considering his few years of experience in comparison to other professional poker players, Roland’s live tournament winnings have exceeded $3,900,000 as of 2008.

Since his first days as a rising poker star, de Wolfe has been strongly affiliated with FullTilt Poker – and is an avid regular player in the world of online poker games. Some of de Wolfe’s most common nicknames at tournaments includes of the following: The Sheep, The Edge, The Wolfman, The Werewolf, The Edge.
