About Rod Place
Rod Place - Professional Summary: Voice technology, in one form or another, has been the running theme of Rod Place’s 20-year career, beginning in college and continuing straight through to his current position as COO for Elevate Marketing Group, LLC. While many career paths meander from one interest to another, Rod Place’s has consistently involved communications.
At the University of California, Berkeley, in the early 1980s, Rod Place pursued a then fairly exotic course of studies in professional intensive telecommunications technology fundamentals and installation. After graduation, he went to work for Voice Memo, Inc., working his way through marketing and customer service until he took on the duties of Field Engineer. Rod Place spent a year as a Field Services Technician at the telephone services provider Pacific State and then joined the global voice company MCI-WorldCom. Rod Place’s first title was Senior Sales Engineer; by the time he left, he was the Director of Implementation for Northern California/Nevada. Rod Place went on to be the Senior Director and Vice President of Operations at Quantumshift Communications and finally took advantage of his experience and started his own voice technology company, R-Tek Communications/Comm360 Systems Integrators.
The four years at R-Tek took him into new territory: low-voltage smart technology for voice and other applications. His business won major clients and expanded into three specialized divisions, as well as a service and support department, a move that helped build the company’s success. In 2006, Rod Place became the Vice President of Home Services for 180 Connect/DirecTV/MasTec, where he guided the company into new territories and new markets.
In 2010, Rod Place launched RiteWire, a company specializing in integrating video, data, voice, and security technologies. RiteWire quickly made a name for itself and, in 2011, was acquired by Elevate Marketing Group, LLC. Rod Place will continue to manage RiteWire while acting as Elevate’s new Chief Operating Officer.
