Robert Huth is a professional football player who was born on August 18, 1984 in East Berlin, East Germany.
Robert Huth represents Germany at the international level and had played at the 2003 Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Youth Championship. He joined the Germany Under-21 team in 2004 and played four games during the 2004-2005 season, following which this central defender graduated to Germany’s senior squad. Robert Huth was also the first-choice central-defender for Germany at the 2005 Confederations Cup. He scored his first goal for the national side in the third-place play-off against Mexico at the 2005 Confederations Cup. He netted his second goal for the national side in a friendly match against Italy in March 2006. On March 20, 2006, he was recalled to the German national team for a friendly match against Switzerland. Robert Huth won seventeen international caps for the national side since his inception into the team as a central defender in 2004 and has two goals to his credit.
Robert Huth started his football career as a youngster by playing with the VfB Fortuna Biesdorf football club and he moved on to the youth team of Union Berlin football club during the 2000-2001 season. In 2001, he was signed for Chelsea from Union Berlin by the Chelsea manager, Claudio Ranieri. He played with Chelsea’s youth team for close to a year before graduating to the senior team in 2002. At the age of seventeen, in Chelsea’s last game of the 2001-2002 season against Aston Villa, Robert Huth made his debut appearance for the club by coming on as a substitute at half-time. He went on to play forty two games as the central-defender for the Chelsea F.C. till the end of 2005-2006 season.
In 2006, Robert Huth signed a five-year contract with the Middlesbrough F.C. for a reported transfer fee of £6 million before the transfer deadline could conclude. Even though he had injury concerns during his first season at the club, he staged a strong comeback during the next season. On December 29, 2007 Robert Huth played in a Premier League away match against Portsmouth and put forth a brilliant performance and was nominated Man of the Match by the Middesbrough website. After the departure of Jonathan Woodgate from Middlesbrough, he was considered to be a good choice for the central-defense partnering with David Wheater. He added another goal to his tally in a match against Newcastle United that was held on February 2008. As of 2008, Robert Huth has played twenty eight games for the Middlesbrough F.C. and has two goals to his credit.
