About Rob Berryman

Rob Berryman, nicknamed “Boilingfish”, is 23-year-old poker player from Killen, Alabama. To Berryman, a finance graduate, poker is a hobby and he has no intention of taking it up as a profession, despite an impressive performance at the 2006 World Series of Poker main event, his first multi-day tournament appearance.

Berryman participated in the $10,000 No Limit Texas Hold'em World Championship Event at the 37th World Series of Poker when he was just 21. But he impressed on-lookers and pros alike with his maturity and sportsmanship, something the veterans say is rare in young poker players. As Berryman moved up the record 8,773 field, he drew the attention of professional player Jeffrey Lisandro, who would spend time coaching Berryman after each day’s play. He made it into the money and had survived longer than majority of the field.

Rob Berryman eventually bowed out in 33rd place and he was eliminated as the youngest player left in the field at just 21 years and 3 months. His tight and aggressive play was rewarded, but luck favoured David Einhorn, who benefited from Berryman’s departure. Despite a disappointing ouster, Rob Berryman left Las Vegas $329,865 richer.
