Ridge Creek School

Ridge Creek School, a therapeutic boarding school in Georgia, distinguishes itself with a unique and demanding wilderness program. From Friday afternoon to Sunday, Ridge Creek School students participate in a number of outdoor programs designed to boost confidence, push limits, encourage camaraderie, and teach leadership. With activities ranging from rock climbing to mountaineering, students are constantly challenged to perform their best, helping them gain a newfound sense of accomplishment. Ridge Creek School students must also rely on each other to be successful in these challenges. For example, after scaling Ridge Creek School’s six-story climbing wall, students must trust their peers to safely help them rappel back to the ground.

Beyond its wilderness program, Ridge Creek School also stresses considerable family and parent involvement with its students. A child therapist regularly updates parents about the issues being addressed and the advancements made. Also, parents are encouraged to visit their children at Ridge Creek School on a monthly basis and are welcome at all school events, whether they take place on or off campus. Ridge Creek School holds regular parent workshops to discuss parenting styles, allow parents to meet with their child’s therapist, address a parent’s concerns about a child’s behavior, and create a family contract. At Ridge Creek School, parents and family are a central part of a student’s life.

Located in the northern region of the Georgia Mountains, the Ridge Creek School campus offers gorgeous surroundings with boundless areas for students to explore and grow personally. Ridge Creek School’s 210 acres are surrounded by protected national forests and boast a centrally located 14-acre pristine lake. In addition to its outdoor advantages, Ridge Creek School also provides exercise and weight rooms, appealing common rooms, modern dorms, and a variety of off-campus activities both in the local community and in Atlanta.
