About Rick Valente
Rick Valente - Professional Summary: Rick Valente is an internationally known bodybuilder, actor, and television host. He has appeared in 41 commercials and has been featured on the cover of 40 books and magazines, as well as the cover of Van Halen’s 1986 hit album, 5150.
Rick Valente entered his first bodybuilding competition at the age of 19 while working as a bouncer in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He took first place in the competition, surprising and delighting himself and his friends, and his success motivated him to continue in the sport. He soon moved to Los Angeles to train at Gold’s Gym alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lou Ferrigno, and Franco Columbu, the stars of the bodybuilding documentary Pumping Iron. Valente continued to experience success in the sport until a serious injury sidelined him in 1987, at which point he sought to use his famously charismatic personality to find a new career path.
His opportunity came two years later when ESPN held a casting audition at Gold’s Gym for the new series BodyShaping. Valente earned a position as the co-host of the internationally syndicated show, which would eventually reach audiences of over 60 million worldwide. The success of BodyShaping helped launch Rick Valente’s career as an entertainment and fitness icon.
Rick Valente has made celebrity guest appearances on Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, Entertainment Tonight, Days of Our Lives, and the Chuck Woolery Show, as well as acting in the films Hollywood Vice Squad and Runaway Train. Valente has also appeared on the cover of numerous fitness publications, including Better Bodies Magazine, Flex, Iron Man Magazine, and Mass Building. In addition, Rick Valente has worked as a personal trainer and nutrition consultant for clients including Sally Field, Chuck Woolery, Jeff Goldblum, Jermaine Jackson, and Chuck Arnoldi.
