About Rick Bolander

Rick Bolander - Professional Summary:

Entrepreneur Rick Bolander oversees a diverse portfolio of venture capital investments as the Managing Director and cofounder of Gabriel Venture Partners. Furthermore, Rick Bolander advises India-based Infinity Venture Fund.

Prior to Gabriel Venture Partners, Rick Bolander spent seven years in various operational roles ranging from product development and operations management to regional marketing and sales management at AT&T/Lucent. Additionally, he has eight years of real estate investment experience. Mr. Bolander received an MBA from Harvard University after completing his graduate studies at the University of Michigan College of Engineering, and then began working at Chevron in the Systems, Planning and Development Department. From Chevron, he returned to Ann Arbor to teach computer architecture at the University of Michigan, then worked for AT&T in various operating areas, including marketing, sales, and operations.

While at AT&T, Mr. Bolander participated in the company's executive succession program and received the President's Award and the Quality Management of the Year Award. He began his investment career in residential real estate after launching Blue Sky Ventures, a Chicago residential real estate investment firm. A career in venture capital later ensued when he joined Chicago-based Apex Investment Partners as a General Partner. His hands-on approach stems from his deep operational experience and long track record as both an entrepreneur and a venture capitalist.

A hands-on, forward-thinking investor, Rick Bolander has been involved in more than 50 venture deals and has led over $100 million in early-stage financings in the areas of digital media infrastructure and applications, communications, information technology, and the Internet. Rick Bolander has served on the boards of AccessLine Communications (acquired by Telenetix), Arula Systems (acquired by Raritan), Concord Communications (IPO-NASDAQ: CCRD), Exodus Communications (IPO-NASDAQ: EXDS, then acquired by Savvis), IPWireless (acquired by Nextwave), Jacked (acquired by Roundbox), Neopath (acquired by Cisco), NetScaler (acquired by Citrix Systems), Persistent Systems (IPO-BSE India: PER EQ), Placeware (acquired by Microsoft) and Tut Systems (IPO-NASDAQ: TUTS).
