Ricardo Fuller is a professional football player who was born on October 31, 1979 in Kingston, Jamaica.
Ricardo Fuller represented the Jamaica national football team at the international level and as of 2008, he has won thirty seven international caps and has five international goals to his credit.
Ricardo Fuller started his professional football career in 1999 by playing for the Trivoli Gardens, after which he joined the English club, Crystal palace in February 2001 for a transfer fee of £1million. Known as “Glass-Knees” in the football world, Ricardo Fuller made eight appearances for Crystal Palace before returning to Tivoli Gardens at the end of the campaign.
During the 2001-2002 season, Ricardo Fuller played for the Scottish Premier League club Hearts and featured in twenty seven games for the club with eight goals to his tally. These impressive performances by this striker at Hearts landed him at the English league side, Preston North End for a transfer fee worth £500,000.
Ricardo Fuller made his first appearance for Preston in a match against Crystal Palace and scored his side’s only goal in this match. He became an important player in the team scoring at regular intervals and ended his first season with eleven goals in just twenty appearances. Ricardo Fuller started the 2003-2004 season on a prolific note by scoring six goals from just five games, thus ending the season with nineteen goals, and he won an award for being the most outstanding player in the First Division. He played for Preston till 2004 and netted an impressive thirty one goals from sixty three games he took part.
Ricardo Fuller signed a £1 million deal with the Portsmouth football club in August 2004 and played here for one season making thirty one appearances. After his tenure with Portsmouth ended, he signed to play for Southampton for a transfer fee of £90,000 and had a dramatic start by scoring the club’s only goal in a match that was held at Coventry on August 29, 2005. Following this, Ricardo Fuller pulled out another goal scoring performance for the club at Derby on September 18. Southampton sent him on loan to Ipswich Town in February 2006 and scored two goals from four games, after which he returned to Southampton at the end of March. After his return to this club, he improved his game and went on to score six goals from six games.
On August 31, 2006, Ricardo Fuller joined Stoke City for a transfer fee of £500,000, which depended on the number of appearances he made for the Potters. He emerged as the club’s leading goal scorer by scoring eleven goals for the 2006-2007 season. In a match against the Wolves this season, Ricardo Fuller scored an outstanding solo goal, which earned him the Goal of the Season award. As of 2008, he plays for Stoke City as a striker wearing the jersey number 10 and has made sixty seven appearances with twenty six goals to his credit.
