Raymond Rahme (born in 1945), also known as Ray Rahme, is a professional poker player from South Africa. In fact, Raymond Rahme is the first South African who ever made it to the final table at the prestigious World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas. Being so, Raymond Rahme has brought pride to south Africa, placing the continent on the poker map He won a seat to the WSOP by becoming a top placed player, making it to the fourth place, in the richest and largest poker tournament in Africa called the All African Poker Tournament. Raymond Rahme finished in 3rd place in the 2007 WSOP final table, collecting $3,048,025. Although he did not win at that event, Raymond Rahme sure provided an exciting game facing his opponents in the No Limit Texas Hold’Em Event. Throughout his adult life, Raymond Rahme played seven-card stud. He was finally introduced to the Texas No Limit Hold’Em only two years prior to playing it at the final table in Las Vegas at the WSOP. Taking into consideration this fact, it is by far more an impressive 3rd place win.
Raymond Rahme resides in Johannesburg, South Africa, with his wife and has six children. Before he retired, Ray Rahme operated his Bed and Breakfast inn. He plays on the largest online poker card room, the PokerStars, which also sponsors him along with other professional poker players including Chris Moneymaker, Bill Chen and Greg Raymer to name a few. Playing in the All Africa Event several times and finishing at 3rd, 4th, and 15th places previously, Raymond Rahme has made it to the first place winning over 1,000,000 rand, which equals about $125,000. This win at June 2008, has relieved Raymond Rahme from previously loosing at final tables, balancing his confidence back again.
Raymond Rahme Has participated in many tournaments throughout the world. As of 2008, he is professionally ranked in the 1428th place. Other than winning several tournaments in the continent of Africa, he was placed 27th at the EPT Monte Carlo Grand Final playing No Limit Hold’Em and winning $55,177. Playing at the 2008 Crown Aussie Millions Championship Raymond Rahme was placed 46th winning almost $19,000 in the No Limit Hold’Em Event. Realizing that this type of hobby is actually very profitable, Raymond Rahme is taking it very seriously. His skills are improving rapidly in the variant poker game that was not familiar to him until the year of 2005, the Texas No Limit Hold’Em became his favorite game over the ever long preference of Seven Card Stud he used to play along his life, learning its skills at a younger age.
