Slatton was born in 1952 in an old farm house located in the middle of the cotton fields of Eastern Arkansas. I was a product of both Oriental and Southern culture. He later earned university degrees which led him to his profession as artist and educator.

Intaglio printmaking is usually not as popular to the general public, as are the disciplines of painting or drawing. The printmaker works with exotic processes, caustic chemicals, heavy equipment, and a host of specialized tools.
