Rade Prica is a Swedish football striker, who was born on June 30, 1980 in Ljungby, Smaland.


Rade Prica made his international appearance for the Sweden Under-21 national football team in 1999. He has earned thirteen caps for the team scoring five goals and progressed to the senior side in 2001. His debut for the senior team was against Thailand in February that year, in which he came on as a substitute for Martin Åslund. Rade Prica has represented the team in 14 matches scoring twice as of January 2008.


Rade Prica kick started his football career by joining his hometown club, Ljungby, as a youth player in 1995. He progressed to the senior side of the club and made 37 appearances contributing 14 goals during his tenure, which lasted for three seasons.


Rade Prica moved to the well-known Swedish club, Helsingborg, in 1998, following which, he represented the club in 73 games and has 27 goals to his credit. He switched to the German club, Hansa Rostock, in 2002, and he represented the club in 113 matches netting 20 goals during his four year association with it. In 2006, Rade Prica signed a contract with the Danish football club, Aalborg BK, and emerged as the top goal scorer in the Danish Superliga of the 2006–07 season by scoring 19 goals. In the club’s 2007 Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Cup Campaign, his outstanding performance at the White Hart Lane caught the attention of renowned scout, Simon Prince, who informed two other scouts about his skills on the field. During his two-year association with the club, he made 48 appearances scoring 28 times.


Sunderland signed Rade Prica on a three-and-a-half year deal in January 2008 for a fee exceeding £2 million. He secured his first goal for the club on his debut match against Birmingham City and has appeared in six matches as of July 2008.
