Rabbi Jeffrey Salkin - Professional Summary:     Rabbi Jeffrey Salkin is author of a number of books about Judaism and Jewish culture. Among the many books that he wrote or edited are titles such as The Modern Men’s Torah Commentary, Searching for My Brothers: Jewish Men in a Gentile World, and A Dream of Zion: American Jews Reflect On Why Israel Matters To Them. His books earned critical acclaim, and he was the recipient of Benjamin Franklin Award for Best Religion Book of the Year in 1993. In addition, Rabbi Jeffrey Salkin maintains a blog and is a frequent contributor to publications, such as The Wall Street Journal and The Jewish Daily Forward. Rabbi Jeffrey Salkin also takes his knowledge on tour as a traveling scholar. He frequently visits synagogues and community centers around the United States and gives talks and sermons on a wide variety of topics. He also makes himself available for interfaith events and talks and has prepared lectures that can appeal to groups of many different faiths. Very much concerned with the preservation of Jewish culture in modern society, Rabbi Jeffrey Salkin has traveled to Israel many times to stay connected to the people and culture.

Rabbi Jeffrey Salkin is the spiritual leader at Temple Israel in Columbus, Georgia. He was ordained at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York in 1981, and later became one of the first Jews to earn his Doctor of Ministry from the Princeton Theological Seminary.
