About Prasanta Saha

The Indian Premier League (IPL) made talented unknown young cricketers into overnight stars. Some of them have not played test cricket or one day cricket matches. But today they are household names in India thanks to IPL T20 Cricket. Some of these young cricketers played better than their famed counterparts and are sure to demand hefty amounts in the next year auction if BCCI lifts upper circuit on them. The future of Indian cricket seems bright what with so many of these young cricketers marching their way to glory with their refined skills and expertise on the field. One of them is Wriddhiman Prasanta Saha .

Wriddhiman Prasanta Saha was born on October 24, 1984 in Shaktigarh, India. This 23-yr old right-handed batsman and wicketkeeper was first selected to play for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy after the then wicketkeeper Deep Dasgupta bowed out of the team to be a part of the Indian Cricket League. Not one to let go off such an opportunity, Wriddhiman Prasanta Saha grabbed the chance with both hands. His batting-a-thousand performance ensured his position as the 15th Bengal player to make a debut century in the Ranji. Barely managing to make only one more fifty in the remaining first-class games of the season, Saha still laughed his way into the IPL as a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders team. He made 13 runs (with 2 fours) in 15 balls at a strike rate of 86.66, in a match against Kings XI Punjab.

Others who formed a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders include names like Sourav Ganguly, Chris Gayle, Ricky Ponting, Ajit Agarkar, David Hussey, Shoaib Akhtar with the veteran John Buchanan as the coach.
