Péter Halmosi is a Hungarian football midfielder born on September 25, 1979 in Szombathely.


He was selected for the Hungary national team in 2002, and since then has earned 15 caps for his country.


Péter Halmosi kick-started his football career as a youth player at Szombathelyi Haladás and graduated to its senior team in 1998. During his tenure with it, he made 100 league appearances scoring 18 goals. He then moved onto Debreceni VSC in 2003, after a brief stint with the Austrian club, Grazer AK in 2002-03. His association with Debreceni VSC lasted four seasons, during which he represented the club in 99 matches, contributing 19 goals. Péter Halmosi was also part of the Debreceni VSC team that lifted the Hungarian League and the Hungarian Super Cup in 2005 and 2006.


In the 2006–07 season Péter Halmosi went on loan to Plymouth Argyle and made the move permanent by signing a £400,000 deal with the club in May 2007. He made his debut in its victory against Norwich City on January 13, 2007, and played a vital role for the club and made his presence felt in a number of matches.


Péter Halmosi represented Hull City in a pre-season friendly against North Ferriby United in July 2008, and went onto sign a four-year deal with the club that month for a fee in excess of £2m. He made his maiden appearance for Hull City in a friendly against Chesterfield at Saltergate.
