Pedro Miguel Pele is a professional football player, who was born on May 2, 1978 in Albufeira, Portugal, but he is of Cape Verdean origin. In the football world, he is well-known as “Pedro Pelé” or “Pelé”.


In 2006, Pedro Miguel Pele got a call for his national side, Cape Verde, and he is a part of the national squad in its qualifying matches of the 2008 African Nations Cup.


Pedro Miguel Pele began his professional football career as a defender with the Imortal football club in 1997. During his tenure at this club (until 2002), he has made a total of 126 appearances and has scored 8 goals to his credit. By the end of that year, he moved to C.D. Feirense, the Portuguese side, and featured in 28 games for this club, scoring 2 goals in his year long stint at this club. In 2003, Pedro Miguel Pele signed with CF Os Belenenses and scored two goals from the 90 games he has played for the club during his tenure till 2006.


During the 2006-07 season, Pedro Miguel Pele received offers from various English Premier League sides such as West Ham United and Portsmouth, but he signed with Southampton on July 19, 2006 for an undisclosed transfer fee. This defender scored his first competitive goal for this club on December 30, 2006. Pedro Miguel Pele began his first season with the club in his natural central-defensive position but was soon moved to central-midfielder position alongside Jermaine Wright. Owing to the absence of his injured teammates, Darren Powell and Claus Lundekvam, he resumed his defensive position. During his stint at this club for a season, he played 44 games that included a match against Leicester, in which he scored once and contributed to his team’s 2-0 win.


On August 9, 2007, Pedro Miguel Pele signed a two-year contract with West Bromwich Albion for a whooping fee of £1 million. He made his debut for this club on the opening day of the season in an away game against Burnley, in which he came in as a substitute. As of 2008, Pedro Miguel Pele has made a total of 21 games for this club.
