About P.C. Richard & Son
The history of the East Coast appliance and electronics chain, P.C. Richard & Son, dates back to 1909 when its founder, Peter Christian Richard, first emigrated to the U.S. from Holland. After settling in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, P.C. Richard opened his own hardware store the same year his son, Alfred J. Richard, was born.
A.J. Richard started working alongside his father at the age of six, and by the age of 16 he had expanded the store’s inventory to include electric irons. In 1932, A.J. Richard expanded the company’s inventory once again to include toasters, ranges, washers, refrigerators, and radios, and in 1935 the company opened its first customer service department to ensure that every customer was satisfied even after their purchase was completed.
By 1950, P.C. Richard & Son had opened its first Warehouse and TV Service department, and the company began to expand throughout Queens. Over the next 60 years, the business would grow from 3 showrooms to over 50 showrooms located throughout New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. Since 2010, the company has opened 8 new superstore locations, and has teamed up with Clear Channel Radio to open the iHeartRadio Theatre presented by P.C. Richard & Son, a 5,500 square foot performance space located in New York City.
The inventory at P.C. Richard & Son now includes the latest technology in televisions, computers, mobile electronics, video games, global positioning systems, and more. Throughout its 102 year history, the company has always remained committed to its values of honesty, integrity and reliability.
