Patricia Wente - Summary:
Patricia Wente is results-driven in all of her endeavors and has consistently achieved at an optimal level throughout her 30 years in public broadcasting and fundraising. She has managed or directly contributed to solicitation efforts totaling more than $100 million in revenue for the expansion of nonprofit organizations. Patricia Wente spent over 19 years as the Director and General Manager of St. Louis Public Radio’s KWMU, a national public radio affiliate in St. Louis. Her careful planning, strategizing, and execution of those efforts fueled the prosperity and positive recognition KWMU enjoyed during her tenure.
Under Patricia Wente’s management, the radio station increased listenership by 152 percent and became one of the top 10 most listened to public radio news stations in the country. Moreover, her fundraising efforts resulted in a 112 percent increase in major donors and $8 million raised in a campaign for a new facility. These achievements necessitated an increase in staff to accommodate the growth under Wente’s management. It’s no surprise that given her drive and business acumen Wente decided to start her own company. She has been the CEO and President of The Wente Group Inc. since 2008.
The Wente Group is a consulting firm that strives to assist nonprofit organizations in meeting their unique development goals. In a short time, Patricia Wente has acquired clients such as The Radio Arts Foundation, and WNYC radio. Wente works closely with each client to assess their objectives, customize a plan of action, and implement said plan. Even with the demands that self-employment entails, Wente still finds time to serve on several committees such as the Press Club of Metropolitan St. Louis, where she serves as the Vice President of Membership; the College Bound Cap & Gown Ball; and, the Jazz St. Louis Gala.
