About Patrick Rhode
Introduction
From a career that includes NASA, The White House and Fortune 500 companies among his professional credits, Patrick Rhode has nearly two decades worth of senior management experience in both the public and private sectors. Rhode leads external affairs efforts on behalf of one of the largest transportation infrastructure companies in the world, as the United States Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Cintra.
Early Career
After graduating from the University of Arkansas with a degree in Political Science, Patrick Rhode became a broadcast television journalist. Recognized by the Associated Press as an award winner early in his career, Rhode’s television work has included assignments at ABC and CBS affiliates. Rhode’s on-air journalism experiences represented an early foundation that would culminate in communications and public affairs management.Later in his career, Rhode would serve as Director of Homeland Security and Intelligence for BearingPoint, a management consulting company. Rhode handled consulting services and crisis management for public and private sector clients. Prior to BearingPoint, Rhode was appointed by the President of the United States for service as Associate Administrator of the United States Small Business Administration, Special Assistant to the President of the United States, and as Chief of Staff for two FEMA Directors within the then newly created United States Department of Homeland Security in the aftermath of 9/11. Rhode served at FEMA during one of the highest multi year periods of activity in the agency’s history, which resulted in administered federal aid to more than 3 million American disaster victims.
NASA
Patrick Rhode would return from the private sector for additional public service when the President of the United States and the NASA Administrator appointed him as the NASA Senior Advisor. Rhode acted as advisor and counsel to senior staff members and the NASA Administrator, offering support on a number of communications and governmental affairs issues facing the nation’s premier space agency. Rhode handled strategies in external relations, government and public affairs, as well as crisis communications.
Cintra
Rhode’s two decades of experience culminates with his position at Cintra. As United States Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Rhode manages Cintra’s external affairs and governmental affairs within the United States. Rhode is responsible for leading efforts on behalf of one of the largest transportation infrastructure companies in the world, which has some nearly 25 billion dollars in managed assets world wide. Rhode works from Cintra’s national headquarters in Texas.
