About Patrick McEachen

Patrick McEachen - Summary:

Patrick McEachen loves to play hockey. At age 20, he has already spent 18 years on the ice. His passion took him from Representative (Rep) A hockey to Rep AAA, the highest level of minor league hockey in Canada. From there, he advanced to Junior A hockey and then to the Ontario Hockey League, one of three major junior organizations that make up the Canadian Hockey League. Open to players ages 15 to 20, the league consists of 20 teams, with 17 in Ontario. Throughout his amateur hockey career, Patrick McEachen has grown as a player, earning team and personal accolades.

Patrick McEachen’s first Rep AAA team, the Richmond Hill Stars, won the Ontario Minor Hockey Association Championships in 2001 and 2002. In 2007, McEachen became a finalist for the Men’s Under-17 Provincial Selection Camp and a sixth-round draftee of the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors of the Ontario Hockey League. He declined the offer, choosing instead to play for his hometown Stouffville Spirit. The National Hockey League (NHL) Central Scouting Bureau added Patrick McEachen to its Players to Watch list in 2008, and representatives from five NHL teams interviewed him prior to the 2009 draft.

As a member of the Stouffville Spirit of the Ontario Junior A Hockey League, Patrick McEachen became Captain at age 17. During his tenure with this team, he played in the 2008 Canadian Junior Hockey League NHL Prospects Game on Prince Edward Island. As a defenseman and Co-Captain of the Junior A Wellington Dukes of the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL), Patrick McEachen led the team in defensive scoring and became the top-scoring defensive player in the 2010 CCHL playoffs.

Fluent in both English and French, Patrick McEachen studies economics at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, and volunteers at The Salvation Army. In his leisure time, he appreciates a good biography or thriller and enjoys country music, particularly the tunes of Alan Jackson. Patrick McEachen follows the Toronto professional sports teams and also likes to golf and work out away from the ice.
