Palani Amarnath is a relatively recent Indian cricket player. He was born on June 1st, 1982 at Vellore, Tamil Nadu.

Palani is a right-arm seamer bowling with a round-arm style. Before entering the international cricket scene, he was part of the Tamil Nadu U-25 cricket team. Determined and dedicated, Palani nurtured dreams of making it big in the world of cricket from his boyhood days. He is amongst the few who manage to carve a niche in the very start of their career – to be amongst the fastest bowlers of his district was surely a dream come true for Palani.

Awaiting the big break, Palani Amarnath worked at a construction company after the completion of his civil engineering diploma. The break came by in the form of a talent hunt competition held at local level for fast bowlers. For a 21-year old, this opportunity meant a lot and Palani decided to make the most of it. He was soon a known name in Tamil Nadu and had already impressed the crowd and national selectors with his bowling and fielding abilities. Being selected to play in the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League marked the breakthrough of Palani Amarnath’s cricketing career. In a match against Kings XI Punjab, he bowled 3 overs, gave 35 runs and took one wicket of Yuvraj Singh.

Till date, he has played in 5 Twenty20 games and captured 7 wickets. He has also participated in 8 first class matches. Apart from being a fast-paced bowler, Palani Amarnath is also a right-handed batsman who plays lower order. His batting skills are yet to be witnessed. Given a few more breaks, Palani is sure to make a mark for himself in the history of cricket.
