Norman Eckenrode - Professional Summary:   



A longtime Councilman and former Mayor of Placentia, California, Norman Eckenrode is substantially involved in local government and community activities. Demonstrating a keen interest in public service, Norman Eckenrode has served as a member of at least eight government agencies and seven community organizations. Boasting a long history of civil service, Norman Eckenrode also possesses extensive experience in business ownership and management.

 

Over the course of the last 26 years, Norman Eckenrode served as Mayor for five terms. Heavily involved in other agencies, Norman Eckenrode has served as a Member of the Tri-City Park Authority, the Victim and Witness Advisory Committee, and as an Executive Committee member of the Southern California Association of Government. As the Chairman of the Orange County Sanitation District’s Planning, Design, and Construction Committee, Norman Eckenrode secured a new position as a member of the National Water Research Institute, based in Fountain Valley. Furthermore, Norman Eckenrode’s service history includes participation in local youth organizations such as the Junior United Soccer Association and the Boy Scout and Girl Scout Board of Directors.

 

Norman Eckenrode completed his undergraduate education at Kansas State University, where he received his BS in Political Science. Pursuing additional education, Norman Eckenrode obtained his MBA from Pepperdine University. Norman Eckenrode’s previous work experience includes a position with the Gulf Oil Company in Riverside, California, where he interacted regularly with service station dealers to maintain amicable relationships with the company. Garnering invaluable skills in marketing, training, and profit analysis, Norman Eckenrode transitioned to the role of Sales Manger with West Bend Company of West Bend, Wisconsin. With responsibility for marketing and advertising, Norman Eckenrode sold merchandise to houseware buyers for major department stores in the Greater Los Angeles Area for 14 years. Establishing a Shakey's Pizza franchise in Brea, California, about 15 years after moving to the Placentia area, Norman Eckenrode operated the specialty restaurant for 14 years until retiring in 2000. He currently lives in Placentia, his home for the past 39 years, with his wife Carole. His three adult daughters and eight grandchildren also live in the Placentia area. At present, Norman Eckenrode enjoys his grandchildren's school, music, sports activities, and accomplishments.
