Noelle Maloney - Professional Summary:    

As Acting Inspector General of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Noelle Maloney oversaw the operations, staff, audits, and investigations of the Office of Inspector General (OIG). Ms. Maloney also had direct responsibility for the OIG Office of Audits and the Office of Investigations. Noelle Maloney joined the SEC as Senior Counsel in 2005. Representing the agency in administrative proceedings and litigation, she successfully defended the SEC in several cases, including such published decisions as Abraham, Fruchter & Twersky v. SEC and LaRoche v. SEC, both in 2006. Prior to her current post, Ms. Maloney served as Deputy Inspector General of the federal agency.

In other federal positions, the skilled attorney acted as a Supervisory Management Analyst at the National Institutes of Health and as the Director of Public Information and Acting Deputy Director for Management of the Peace Corps. In the latter capacities, Noelle Maloney oversaw the assessment of the functions of programs, operations, and policies of the agency, as well as aided the Director in preparing media responses and testimony before the United States House of Representatives and Senate. In addition, Noelle Maloney served as the lead legal advisor in the areas of information-sharing, privacy, the Freedom of Information Act, and other statutes.

Following service as a law clerk to the Honorable Donald A. Smith Jr. in the New Jersey Judiciary, Ms. Maloney joined Sterns & Weinroth, P.C., in Trenton, New Jersey, as an Associate Attorney. Handling casino, construction, and commercial litigation, she acted as first and second chair in various trials, provided lobbying services for special-interest clients, and participated in activities related to client outreach. Noelle Maloney received her J.D. at Rutgers University School of Law-Camden. A singer and songwriter in her private life, she enjoys playing the bass guitar in duet performances with her husband, also a musician. The cancer survivor also supports nonprofit organizations and events related to Down syndrome, suicide prevention, and breast cancer research.
