About Nikol Withrow

Nikol Withrow is one of the top leaders in the southeastern United States' social services and education sectors.
By combining Nikol Withrow's interests in education (early childhood to college) with non-profit work, Nikol Withrow has served in many key positions throughout a career that began in 1991.
After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C. Nikol Withrow became co-owner and director of Kid's First Child Care Center in Forest City, N.C. where, for five years, Nikol Withrow supervised staff, reported to a 35-member executive board, and managed the center's budget.
Eighteen years later, Nikol Withrow was hired as program manager with The Children's Museum in Greenville, S.C., where Nikol Withrow currently creates lesson plans and exhibits for the soon-to-open museum.
Nikol Withrow also presently serves as adjunct instructor of economics at Cleveland (N.C.) Community College, continuing on a parallel career path that Nikol Withrow followed for seven years.
Nikol Withrow's Academic Posts

• Isothermal Community College, Spindale, N.C., part-time instructor. Nikol Withrow
taught early childhood family care credential courses to adults.
• Limestone College, Gaffney, S.C., adjunct professor in human resources management,
workplace ethics, and organizational behavior.
• Converse College, Spartanburg, S.C., adjunct instructor and assistant director of
admissions, responsible for recruiting students from North Carolina, Texas, and
Columbia, S.C., as well as teaching non-profit management courses, respectively.
Nikol Withrow continued her education and earned a Master's of Business Administration from Gardner-Webb University with a concentration in Leadership and Human Resources. Nikol Withrow also added several credits to her resume.
Nikol Withrow's Awards and Certifications

• Nikol Withrow was certified by the South Carolina Association Non-Profits
Organization through five consecutive years in non-profit leadership and management training.
• Nikol Withrow is a Rotary International Member and was appointed to the Rotary
Board of Directors in South Carolina. Nikol Withrow was also named a Rotary
Foundation Paul Harris Fellow in 2006.
• Nikol Withrow was named a CDA Career Advisor for the state of South Carolina.
• Nikol Withrow became a Certified Trainer and Certified Technical Assistant in South
• Nikol Withrow served two terms as a Teen Pregnancy Prevention Council Member.
• Nikol Withrow is a United Way campaign speaker.
• Nikol Withrow was named South Carolina Director of the Year in 2003.

Nikol Withrow also made news headlines during her tenure as executive director for First Steps, Region 2, for the state of South Carolina. Nikol Withrow led the agency in a community outreach program, teaming with actress and singer Dolly Parton in efforts to improve preschool reading skills.
More than 800 preschool children received books each month from both Cherokee County (S.C.) First Steps and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, a project that continued until each child reached age 5.
As executive director at the time, Nikol Withrow said, "Recent figures show 35 percent of children arrive at kindergarten unprepared to learn. This has prompted Cherokee County First Steps to provide the literacy program in an effort to increase children's vocabulary before they enter school.
"It's a great way to help children develop their vocabularies and learn how to become good readers at an early age," Nikol Withrow stated.
As a result, The House of Representatives approved legislation to renew the First Steps to School Readiness Law until July 1, 2013.
