Nick Barmby is a professional football player, who was born on February 11, 1974 in Hull, England. He attended Kelvin Hall High School and went to the Football Association’s National School of Excellence at Lilleshall to hone his football skills. His father, Jeff Barmby, a former football player, has been the chairman of the Ex-Tigers (Hull City club) Association for over 30 years. As a very young player, Nick Barmby gained attention of the football world, following which Jeff Barmby became his son’s advisor and agent.


Having represented the England Under-21 national in 4 matches and England B team in 2 matches between 1994 and 1998, Nick Barmby improved his football skills and was graduated to the first team. As a senior player, he has made 13 starts and 10 substitute appearances for the England national team and has four goals to his credit. Nick Barmby played for his country at the Euro 1996 and at the Euro 2000 tournaments. He was a part of the team, which won 3-0 against Moldova in a World Cup qualifier match in 1996. In 2001, he appeared for England to secure a 3-0 victory in a friendly game against Spain at Villa Park. Nick Barmby played remarkably and helped his team to fetch a memorable 5-1 win against Germany on September 1, 2001.


He began his youth club career with the Hull City football club and has played for local teams, Springhead Boys and the National Tigers, as a schoolboy. Terry Venables, the manager of the Tottenham Hotspur club, is the mentor of Nick Barmby and was responsible for signing and training him for the club. Between 1991 and 1995, Nick Barmby played 89 matches and scored 21 goals for the team before moving to the Middlesbrough club in June 1995. Having netted 8 goals in 42 games within 17 months for the Boros, he joined the Everton football club in 1996 for a record amount of £5.75 million.


At the Everton football club, he spent four seasons and improved his football skills in every match he played for the team. He has made 18 goals in 116 matches and was sold to the Liverpool football club in 2000. Nick Barmby developed his striking abilities at the Liverpool club and played a key role by scoring 10 goals in the 2000-01 season. He was a part of the Liverpool squad, which won the Football Association (FA) Cup, the Football League Cup and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Cup in 2000-01.


In 2002, Nick Barmby moved to the Leeds United club and scored 4 goals in 25 games during his period at the club. He was loaned to the Nottingham Forest club for a brief stint and made 1 goal in 6 matches for the side in the 2003-04 season. He returned to his hometown club, Hull City, in the closing months of the 2003-04 season. On November 6, 2004, he scored a goal after 7 seconds in a match against Walsall, which became the fastest goal in his team’s history. Nick Barmby netted 9 goals in his first season for the Tigers and played a significant part in promoting the club to the Championship by fetching the 2nd place in the 2004-05 League 1 season. His commendable performances helped the Hull City club to win the Championship play-off in the 2007-08 season.
