Neil Pirozzi - Professional Summary:     

 

A respected financial executive, Neil Pirozzi most recently served as Director of Client Services for D. E. Shaw & Co., L.P.', a global investment and technology development firm with offices in North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Neil Pirozzi set up a family office in New York, New York, for the company’s managing directors and developed its financial platform, hired staff, recruited clients, and prepared a services brochure. He managed all household employees, structured investment strategies, developed estate plans for all of the managing directors, established a risk management plan for them, and managed their major assets. A Certified Public Accountant since 1985, Neil Pirozzi drew on extensive experience.

 

Prior to Neil Pirozzi’s role at D. E. Shaw, he worked for years at five different firms. As a Staff Accountant at Trager Glass & Company in New York, he analyzed and reviewed financial reports and tax returns for clients in the construction, real estate, retail, and insurance sectors. Touche Ross & Company in New York hired Neil Pirozzi in February of 1985 to review and analyze SEC filings, press releases and consolidations, and also to forecast cash flow and supervise six staff accountants. In 1988, Neil Pirozzi joined Vernitron Corporation, an electronics manufacturing company in New York, as Manager of Financial Reporting. From 1991 to 2002, he served as Controller at New York’s Olayan America Corporation.

 

In 1983, Neil Pirozzi graduated with his Bachelor of Science from Fordham University in Bronx, New York, where he majored in public accounting. He is a member of The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), an organization that provides professional skill refreshment, education, training programs, publications, and other services to CPAs. Neil Pirozzi also serves as a member of a social club that offers dining, a huge library, and athletic facilities. Outside of his professional endeavors, Neil Pirozzi spends his free time playing golf, tennis, and squash. He also enjoys reading the works of authors such as Pat Conroy and Nelson DeMille, listing The Prince of Tides and The Gold Coast as two of his favorite novels.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for portfolio asset allocation and monitoring, financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, and tax planning and compliance for six executive committee managing directors of the Company

• Manage major asset acquisitions and dispositions including real property, art, and plane interests

• Establishing and maintaining a risk management plan to effectively minimize liability exposure

• Developing estate plans for all MD’s including addressing current and future gifting and philanthropic goals

• Structure cash/fixed income investment strategies and provide investment compliance including execution of trades/capital calls

• Manage household employees including processing payroll and maintaining personnel files

 

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

• Created a family office for the managing directors of the Company including preparing a brochure of services, developing an accounting and financial reporting platform, recruiting staff and engaging inaugural clients

• Worked with attorneys to create several estate plans for various MD’s including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, healthcare proxies, living wills, and inter vivos wealth transfer plans including creation of GRATs, asset protection trusts, insurance trusts, generation-skipping trusts, and sales to defective grantor trusts

• Based on market conditions and the risk tolerance and cash flow needs of the clients, developed strategic asset allocation models taking into account the clients’ human capital and overall portfolio of assets including personal assets. Recommended and implemented fixed income investments which increased yield and offered greater principal protection to clients

• Reviewed insurance programs and recommended and implemented changes in coverage amounts

• Assisting several clients in launching their own private foundations including filing of initial tax-exempt forms, establishing compliance procedures, structuring asset allocation and establishing proper books and records

• Arranged for the donation of highly appreciated securities avoiding taxation on gains and maximizing the charitable deduction
