Nathan Luke Robert Doyle, better known as Nathan Doyle, is an English footballer who was born on January 12, 1987 in Derby. He is a versatile player who can operate as a right-back defender or central midfielder or the right side of midfield. He has played for the England Under-16, Under-17, and Under-20 football teams.
Nathan Doyle started his football career by playing matches for John Port School in Derby and later honed his football skills at Derby County's academy. He progressed to become a part of Derby County senior club in 2002. He made his first appearance for it on November 1, 2003 in a league game against Preston North End when he was just 16 and went on to make a total of 10 appearances for the Rams.
Nathan Doyle was loaned out to Notts County in February 2006 and made his debut for the club on February 25, 2006 in a league match against Lincoln City. After playing 12 games for the club, he returned to Derby County in May 2006, following which, he was loaned out to Bradford City, where he made 28 appearances.
On January 31, 2007, during the January 2007 transfer window, Nathan Doyle signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with Hull City. He made his first appearance for the Tigers in a match against Plymouth Argyle on the final day of the 2006-07 season at the KC Stadium. In the 2007-08 saeson Nathan Doyle made his lone league appearance in a match against Crystal Palace, in which, his outstanding performance helped Hull City win the match and earn a place in the play-offs.
May 14, 2008, was a memorable day for Nathan Doyle as he not only became a father, but also netted his first goal at the senior level that day. It came in the 4–1 win over Watford F.C. in the second leg of the Football League Championship play-offs. This helped Hull City secure their first trip to Wembely, culminating in a promotion to the top flight for the first time in the club’s history.
