About Natalie Liberatore

Natalie Liberatore - Professional Summary:

Natalie Liberatore began her career as a special education teacher while still a student at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). After taking coursework in special education, developmental disabilities, psychology, and research methodologies, Natalie Liberatore participated in the Developmental Disabilities Immersion Program. She amassed 210 hours as a Special Education Intern at McKinley Preschool in Santa Monica, California, where she worked in a noncategorical, collaborative classroom of children ages 3 to 5 years old, all of whom had been diagnosed with speech and language delays as well as autism spectrum disorders like Asperger's Syndrome. Liberatore fulfilled duties as both a Research Assistant and an Instructional Aide at UCLA’s Neuropsychiatric Institute. In the former role, she analyzed factors influencing early-intervention strategies for young children with autism. The findings of her study were presented at a UCLA research forum and submitted for publication in the Pacific State Archives. In the latter role, Natalie Liberatore assisted in a diagnostic classroom and completed a final project that charted the progress of one participant in the Early Childhood Partial Hospitalization Program.

Natalie Liberatore graduated with honors from UCLA in 2005 with a degree in Communication Studies. She continues to pursue training in special education at San Francisco State University: She earned an Education Specialist Credential in Mild to Moderate Disabilities in 2010 and currently works toward a Master of Arts in Special Education.

After graduating from UCLA, Natalie Liberatore became a Senior Instructional Companion at the Institute for Applied Behavioral Analysis in Tarzana, California. In this capacity, she provided individual instruction to young children on the autism spectrum, employing a variety of behavioral strategies to help them achieve positive social and educational outcomes. Therapies included applied behavioral analysis, the picture exchange communication system, and discrete trial training. Natalie Liberatore continued her work with these strategies in 2006 when she joined Arbor Bay School, which educates students with learning differences. While at Arbor Bay, Liberatore enhanced her therapeutic credentials by taking an online course in the DIR/Floortime model. She currently acts as a Special Education Tutor, assisting students in one-on-one sessions designed to supplement their curriculums and foster classroom success.
