A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Narrative Magazine provides a multitude of short stories, novellas, fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and more for free. In the 6 years since its inception, Narrative Magazine has established a position as the foremost leader in digital literary publishing, with over 50,000 subscribers and 900,000 page views per month. To date, Narrative Magazine has been profiled in a number of blogs and publications. Recently, Esquire noted Narrative Magazine as the "gold standard for online literary magazines." Additionally, recent works published in Narrative Magazine won Best American Story, Pushcart, and other prominent awards.
Narrative Magazine is dedicated to promoting the writing of up-and-coming writers. Keenly aware of the many challenges new writers face, Narrative Magazine seeks to provide a forum for aspirants as well as household names, such as E. L. Doctorow, Junot Diaz, Ann Beattie, and T. C. Boyle. Narrative Magazine offers a number of incentives for writers to create and hone their writing skills, including contests, weekly story and poem features, games, and audio recordings. With a hard-copy version published three times a year, Narrative Magazine ensures its contents appeal to both traditional and tech-savvy audiences.
Narrative Magazine attributes its success to the dedication of its diverse staff. Led by founders Tom Jenks and Carol Edgarian, the team at Narrative Magazine is comprised of a number of industry professionals, including Creative Director John Miller, a former art director and editor for Vanity Fair, and Poetry Editor Michael Wiegers, the executive editor of Copper Canyon Press.
