Nam Le was born in Irvine, California, on September 12th, 1980. He is of a Vietnamese origin, and his hometown is Huntington Beach, California. His cousin, fellow professional poker player Tuan Le, was his mentor and Nam Le respects him until this day, and seems to take much pride in the blood relation between them. He did manage to avoid his cousin's shadow, though, and become a well-known professional poker player on his own.
Unlike his cousin and mentor Tuan Le, Nam Le is known to barely talk or show any emotions during the game, and tends to be reserved and silent.
The first live tournament cash winning was on February 4th, 2004, in the LA Poker Classic of the WPT Season 2. He finished 5th in the No Limit Hold'em tournament and won $12,330. It took him only five more days to win the 3rd place and $38,285 in yet another No Limit Hold'em tournament, still in season 2 of the WPT. Nam Le, needless to say, hasn't stopped playing (and winning) ever since. Most of the tournaments he takes part it are WPT or WSOP related, but from time to time he participates in other tournaments as well. His favorite game, so it seems, is No Limit Hold'em, and Nam Le has won many tournaments playing it.
The first major poker win for Nam Le was in 2006, when he took the 1st place in the WPT Season 4 Bay 101 Shooting Star event. 2006 was indeed one of the greatest poker years for Nam Le, as he also finished second to Michael Mizrachi in the Card Magazine's "Player of the year" rankings.
On February 2008, Nam Le represented Team Bodog on LA Poker Classic, WPT Season 6, and took 4th place and $411,770. On June 2008 he participated in the No Limit Hold'em World Championship of the WSOP and got only to the 34th place, but Nam Lee still has a long way to go and his star keeps on rising and shining in the skies of the professional poker world.
