Musavir Khote is a 28-year-old cricket player from Thane, India. A late bloomer by Indian standards, Khote made his Ranji debut for Mumbai at the age of 26. Khote currently plays for Railways, after making a switch from Mumbai in the hope of getting more playing time in four-day matches. In 11 domestic appearances, Musavir Khote, right-arm medium pacer and hard-hitting right handed batsman has failed to impress with the bat, and is yet to register a half-century, his highest score being 34. With the ball, Khote performed reasonably better and managed to pick up 15 wickets with a best of 3 for 82.
Musavir Khote’s forte, however, is the Twenty20 format of cricket. He impressed everyone with some swashbuckling batting performance for Mumbai in the Inter-State Twenty20 championships in April 2007. On the merit of those performances, Khote was signed up by the Mumbai Indians for the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League, a Twenty20 league started by the Indian cricket board, consisting of the world’s top players in teams from eight different Indian cities. Having played 11 T20 matches, Khote has registered an impressive highest score of 72, with an average of 29.4 and a healthy strike rate of 137.8. He has also picked up 8 wickets with his gentle medium pace, with a reasonable average of 31.1.
