About Mr. Sam Szabla
Home furnishings designer Sam Szabla has traveled around the world to discover new patterns and innovative ideas to apply to the interiors of homes.
As an In-House Designer with Hibiscus Island Home, Sam Szabla upholds the company’s business focus of providing antique, vintage, and collectable furniture to customers around the world. Through Hibiscus Island Home, Sam Szabla has helped provide designs to exclusive residences in Beverly Hills, California; Paris, France; and Sao Paolo, Brazil; among other locales. In his position, Sam Szabla is responsible for traveling overseas from the Miami, Florida-based company to find fresh new fashion ideas in home décor. A designer with the Island 29 and Treasured Thread brands, Sam Szabla creates authentic pillow sets made from exotic fabrics.
Earlier in his career, Sam Szabla also sought out motifs and patterns abroad. Former Kauai, Hawaii, resident Sam Szabla started his first home furnishings business with furniture and accessory findings from Mexico. In 1996, Szabla opened Hawaiian House Inc. with a few pieces of Mexican wrought-iron fixtures and pottery he had decorated. Hawaiian House Inc. grew to a chain of five stores, located on the islands of Kauai, Oahu, and Maui, and Sam Szabla purchased goods to fill those shops from Europe, Canada, Argentina, Indonesia, Mexico, and the United States. Sam Szabla made regular trips to the San Francisco area in particular to purchase bedding.
Sam Szabla is the recipient of several domestic and global design awards. Sam Szabla has won the InterDesign award four times, as well as 2002 Man of Design Award Hawaii and the 2004 Paris American Design Award. Sam Szabla’s flair for international styles plays heavily into his designs.
