About Mr. Nicholas Beim

As a General Partner for Matrix Partners, Mr. Nicholas Beim applies over a decade of startup investment experience to provide business advice to innovative growth companies. Among the businesses that Nicholas Beim has been involved with are Gilt Groupe, Care.com, Intent Media, TheLadders.com, OATSystems (acquired by Checkpoint Systems), JBoss (acquired by Red Hat), and Mazu Networks (acquired by Riverbed).


Nicholas Beim has a diverse background for a venture capitalist, having held positions at the U.S. Agency for International Development; Sixty Minutes; McKinsey & Company; and Goldman, Sachs & Company. Within these organizations, Nicholas Beim has focused primarily on finance, technology, internet and media.


Dedicated to community involvement, Nicholas Beim maintains a position as a Board Member with Endeavor. Endeavor assists entrepreneurs in emerging markets develop sustainable businesses through consultation and investment. Through his work at Endeavor, Nicholas Beim has worked with business leaders and entrepreneurs in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and South America.


Nicholas Beim is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the National Venture Capital Association, and the Business Associates Club.


Nicholas Beim holds a Master of Philosophy in International Relations from Oxford University and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Stanford University. Nicholas Beim was the recipient of the Rhinelander Award and the Fairclough Award from Stanford, and was a Marshall Scholar at Oxford. Nicholas Beim has also studied at Moscow State University in Russia, where he worked as a Production Assistant for 60 Minutes and as a Researcher on George Crile’s book “Charlie Wilson’s War.”
