About Mr. Michael Garcia

Health care advocate Michael Garcia possesses an extensive background in public policy, electoral politics, and nonprofit work devoted to human welfare causes. Currently, Michael Garcia serves as the Special Projects Manager for the Metro Community Provider Network (MCPN) in Englewood, Colorado, the premier health care provider for residents of Arapahoe and Jefferson Counties, the City of Aurora, and the Bailey area who are uninsured.

Before coming to work for MCPN in 2008, Michael Garcia operated as a Consultant for Progressives for Immigration Reform in Aurora, Colorado, for one year. Michael Garcia served as the chief organizer for the nascent non-partisan, non-profit organization, whose primary focus is to educate progressive policy makers about immigration policy. Michael Garcia held a number of demanding responsibilities, including developing group bylaws, obtaining an employer identification number for the group, and pursuing grant and funding opportunities.

Michael Garcia attended the University of Colorado, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science before completing a Master of Arts in Political Science at the University of Arizona. The American Political Science Association awarded Michael Garcia with a Graduate Fellowship. After Michael Garcia finished graduate school, he secured a job with the office of Congressman Solomon P. In November 2000, Michael Garcia was elected to his first term to the Colorado House of Representatives. Michael Garcia was re-elected in 2002, 2004, and 2006. As a State Representative, Michael Garcia served on numerous committees and delegations during his terms.

When Michael Garcia is not working at the grassroots level for health care access, he enjoys playing basketball, golf, and football. Michael Garcia also supports numerous community organizations, in addition to volunteering on the Board of Advisors of both Common Good Colorado and Original Aurora Renewal. Michael Garcia also serves on the Board of Directors of the Aurora Education Foundation, the Aurora Museum Foundation, Spirit of Aurora, and the Original Aurora Community Integration Collaborative.
