About Mr. Mark Ghiglieri
After graduating from Lake Oswego High School in Oregon, Mark Ghiglieri joined the army. Following his training at Fort Knox in Kentucky, Mark Ghiglieri was permanently stationed in Louisiana. Afterward, Mark Ghiglieri explored his interest in art and began traveling with his father, renowned painter and sculptor Lorenzo Ghiglieri, to various art shows. Motivated by his exposure to the business aspect of art, Mark Ghiglieri began marketing his father’s art as well as that of his two siblings. Deeply familiar with his family’s work, Mark Ghiglieri proved himself an effective salesman, and he has since sold over $120 million of his family’s art.
Following his family’s example, Mark Ghiglieri also became a painter and a sculptor. In 2004, Mark Ghiglieri started a large-scale painting project in an airplane hangar in Aurora, Oregon. Wanting to forge his own style, Mark Ghiglieri broke from the realism that his family adhered to and began to explore abstract art. To reflect this change, Mark Ghiglieri created his paintings under the name Selvaggia, which means “wild” in Italian. After establishing his technique and creating a number of paintings independently, Mark Ghiglieri hired an assistant, Joel Benson, to help him create a large stock. Over 10 months, Mark Ghiglieri and Joel Benson worked diligently to finish the collection.
Mark Ghiglieri also maintains a strong interest in humanitarian pursuits. Provenance Fine Art, created by Mark Ghiglieri, supported charities by providing them with artworks for them to auction and gain a profit. After selling Provenance, Mark Ghiglieri started his own foundation through which he sought non-profit status to be able to provide charities with 100 percent donations. Currently, Mark Ghiglieri is the CEO of Masterpiece Investments Corporation and manages the company’s charity division, which donates sculptures to non-profits and charities throughout the United States.
