About Mr. Kevin Hendzel

At the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, Kevin Hendzel studied international relations, Russian, French, economics, physics, and engineering. During his time at Georgetown, Kevin Hendzel also studied Russian translation at St. Petersburg State University in Russia and worked as a Research Assistant to the Director of the Kennan Institute for Advanced Russian Studies at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. As a research assistant, Kevin Hendzel helped not only the director in his endeavors, but also various visiting scholars, acting as an interpreter and guide for scholars from Russia. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science, Kevin Hendzel was poised to start his career as a technical Russian translator.

 

For four years during and after his studies, Kevin Hendzel worked for United States National Security as a Lead Technical Translator for the US-USSR Direct Communications Link, also known as the Presidential Hotline. In this position, Kevin Hendzel provided both English-Russian and Russian-English support for technical data related to the Presidential Hotline and supervised a linguistic staff, maintaining high standards for technical Russian translation.

 

After his time with the Presidential Hotline, Kevin Hendzel functioned as a freelance translator for scientific, law, finance, and engineering texts and has worked closely with an interpreting services company named ASET International Services Corporation. Kevin Hendzel translated regularly for 12 professional journals, such as Vestnik Svyazi (Communications Herald) and Radiotekhnika i Elektronika (Radio Engineering and Electronics). In addition, Kevin Hendzel has published 34 book translations, including the landmark physics text Laser Optoacoustics and Vladimir Krainov’s Qualitative Methods in Physical Kinetics and Hydrodynamics. Since joining ASET in 1992 as a Senior Russian Linguist and Translator, Kevin Hendzel has also acted as its Chief Operating Officer and in June 2008, integrated ASET with COMSYS IT Partners. With Kevin Hendzel as its Managing Director, ASET is one of the largest language services in the world, specializing in over 155 languages through over 5,000 language professionals worldwide.
