About Mr. Keith Smaldon
Mr. Keith Smaldon, a resident of Boston, Massachusetts, and New Gloucester, Maine, has distinguished his professional career with numerous successes and accolades. Throughout his nearly two decades of experience in the reinsurance and retail brokerage industries, Keith Smaldon has always strived to achieve maximum sales revenues while effectively leading and managing top tier teams. In his present position as Senior Vice President of Business Development for USI/Goldman Sachs Capital Partners, Keith Smaldon spearheads business development for all New England and offers his expertise in real estate, health care, professional employer organization (PEO), and captive insurance, as well as in alternative risk transfers and balance sheet liabilities.
Proficient at organizing effective sales and marketing strategies, Keith Smaldon operated as Managing Director of Sedgwick (now Marsh, Inc.) Northern New England and Sedgwick New England Region and led his staff to a desirable “Region of the Year Award” two years straight. Keith Smaldon’s exceptional knowledge of consultative sales and customer service resulted in the highest revenue growth and pre-tax profits for all Sedgwick offices ever. Harnessing the motivation and dedication of his employees, Keith Smaldon consistently achieved double-digit growth in regional annual revenue to over $30 million and profit increases as much as 75 to 100 percent while at Sedgwick.
Establishing a New England subsidiary of Hays Companies in Boston in 2000, Keith Smaldon spent six years as President, CEO, and Business Development Director of the mid-market property and casualty insurance and employee benefits broker and administrator. Keith Smaldon’s branch reached profitability within the first 18 months and attained a companywide record client retention rate of nearly 100 percent. Under Keith Smaldon’s leadership, the office also achieved business growth of over $100 million in insurance premiums.
Earning a certificate in general studies from the Aristotle School in London and a solid foundation in insurance management from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), Keith Smaldon has frequently spoken on risk financing strategies at key industry events and meetings. Throughout his career, Mr. Keith Smaldon has placed a strong emphasis on professional development, obtaining an accreditation in U.S. Commercial, Marine, and Personal Lines Insurance from the College of Insurance in New York and attending several courses in branding and marketing at the Harvard Business School.
