About Mr. John Newman
An alumnus of Loyola University Chicago, John Newman has built a solid career in the biotechnology and pharmaceuticals industries since obtaining his BS in Chemistry. John Newman enrolled at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), where he earned his PhD in Chemistry and Biochemistry. Upon graduation, John Newman attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison on a postdoctoral fellowship to study biochemistry and business.
John Newman commenced his professional career as an Associate Analyst at Merrill Lynch. In this capacity, John Newman played an integral role on the biotechnology research team, where he assumed responsibilities such as writing company reports, maintaining models, and managing client relationships.
In 2008, John Newman joined Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. Initially operating as a Senior Special Pharmaceuticals Analyst, John Newman launched coverage on 12 companies with his first six months on the job. Building a solid reputation for professional excellence, John Newman was soon promoted through the ranks to Director of the Specialty Pharmaceuticals Research team, where he now manages coverage for over 23 companies. Leading a diverse team of professionals, John Newman leads the team’s research initiatives to meet overarching company goals. In addition to his duties at Oppenheimer &Co. Inc., John Newman maintains professional affiliations with the American Chemical Society and the New York Society of Security Analysts.
A resident of New York City, John Newman is highly active within his community. In addition to participating in community endeavors, such as the New York Road Runners, John Newman supports organizations such as The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the American Cancer Society, and the March of Dimes.
John Newman finds pleasure in attending concerts at the New York Philharmonic. John Newman also enjoys running, swimming, and playing with his black Labrador retriever.
