Since his undergraduate education at the University of New Hampshire, John Gavin has maintained a close relationship with his community. While studying towards his Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in American History and English, John Gavin was active with the local Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America, helping local youth find positive role models. Part of this process involved John introducing children to the game of lacrosse, a sport he was very familiar with as a member of UNH's Division I Men's Lacrosse Team and as a player in the 1986 NCAA National Men's Lacrosse Tournament Quarter Finals. Today, John is a volunteer lacrosse coach for Shooting Stars and Victory Lacrosse. He is also a volunteer baseball coach for Laguna Beach Little League. John Gavin continues to give back to his community and the larger world environment through his green company, Shoreline Networks, Inc. Shoreline Networks, Inc. is Mr. Gavin's information technology hardware distribution firm, and its industry is known for producing a great volume of waste. To combat negative environmental effects, Mr. Gavin has positioned Shoreline Networks, Inc. to be a certified eCycle company. ECycling is a way for companies to safely and efficiently manage the tons of technological waste produced every year. Shoreline Networks, Inc. and John Gavin have partnered with companies like Cisco, Dell, Cingular, and Sony to establish a network of take-back/trade-in programs. These programs, along with donations to charities and community recycling events, help keep America clean. Mr. Gavin is also active in more traditional philanthropy. He is a regular donor to such causes as World Vision, Red Cross, Goodwill, National Trust for Historic Preservation, Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, and Western Reserve Academy Headmasters Fund.
