About Mr. Dieter Raabe

Dieter Raabe came to the United States from East Germany in 1961 as a political refugee. Subsequently, he put his bilingual skills to use by enlisting in the U.S. Army to work as an escort interpreter at Fort Lee, in Virginia. In this role, Dieter Raabe assisted foreign officers and their families while they visited Washington, D.C. During his time with the U.S. Army, Dieter Raabe began his American history studies at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.

Then in 1964, after Dieter Raabe received a discharge from the Army, he left for California to attend San Francisco State College (now SFSU). While working a variety of jobs, he managed to maintain high marks and graduate. Continuing his education, Dieter Raabe earned his Master of Arts in Comparative Politics. After spending two years in Germany, working as the Director of the California State University International Programs, he returned to the U.S. and completed classes for his Ph.D. in Comparative Politics and American Government at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

In 1977, Dr. Dieter Raabe worked as Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Following his teaching, he was appointed Executive Director of the Los Angeles World Affairs Council. This exciting position required Dr. Dieter Raabe to arrange for world leaders in government, business, economics, science, diplomacy, and education to deliver speeches to members, thereby bringing together some of the world’s most prominent men and women under one roof.

Since 2008, Dr. Dieter Raabe is an international business consultant and lives in the Los Angeles area. In his spare time, he enjoys literary research and staying current with world affairs.
