About Mr. Adam Siskind
Playback Clothing was born from Adam Siskind’s vision to provide fashionable, affordable, environmentally friendly, ready-to-wear clothing to consumers with a shared consideration for the earth’s future. Inspired by Al Gore’s global warming educational documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, Adam Siskind, a 15-year textile engineering industry veteran, began to evaluate the materials he was using for his products. As Adam Siskind discovered, the recycled yarn he had been working with for nearly 10 years was top-rated in sustainability. Familiar with the materials and positive about its fashion manufacturing success, Adam Siskind created Playback Clothing’s first items.
Adam Siskind invented the trademarked Eco-Logic fabric for use in Playback Clothing’s t-shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies. Prior to spearheading Playback Clothing as Founder and CEO, Adam Siskind applied a decade of experience as President of Bernette Textile. Adam Siskind holds a Bachelor of Arts from Tufts University and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business. With Playback Clothing, Adam Siskind researches and presents new ways to achieve total sustainability and reusability for stylish, inexpensive, and easy-wearing products.
Adam Siskind and his Playback Clothing team seek transparency with their consumers, sharing how every product was environmentally considered. Unlike some other “eco” brands, Playback Clothing minimizes waste and energy by using collected recyclable materials like cotton scraps and PET bottles, rather than simply using new, organic fabrics. Each Playback Clothing t-shirt saves about 8.5 plastic bottles from landfills. In addition to reducing waste, Adam Siskind strives to create clothing colors that are direct derivatives of the materials they once were, like “soda bottle green” from real soda bottles.
Since Adam Siskind founded Playback Clothing in 2008, the innovative company has generated positive attention form leading fashion, entertainment, and environmental news sources. Katie Holmes, Bono, and Adrian Grenier are among the celebrities who have donned Playback Clothing’s comfortable and eco-friendly products. Sharing Adam Siskind’s sustainability goals, several bands have selected Playback Clothing for their apparel merchandise. Wilco, Dave Matthews Band, U2, Bon Jovi, and Phish fans can purchase their favorite band’s t-shirts printed on Playback Clothing and do their part for the environment as well.
