Personal clients:

• The Ultimate Travel Company, February 08 to present. Responsibilities: SEM, eCRM strategy/data modelling, coordinating internal /external teams, on-page optimization, analytics and negotiating partner deals. Currently working on online PR/off page optimization project. Achievements: won this project in formal agency pitch (not on price) following recommendation. Improved SEO without redesigning site; on page optimization resulted in 30% increase in unique visitors/11% conversion.

 

•Royal Holloway University ‘reelives' video social networking site project, May 06 to present. Responsibilities: wrote the business/financial/marketing plans, was involved in setting up and attending investor pitches. Currently working on 2009 launch. Achievements: was recommended for this. £100K funding for beta version and second round funding of over £1M.

 

Contract clients:

•Director - Marketing and Strategy, Flipside Group, September 08 to March 09. Responsibilities: hired on a three month contract (extended to seven) by this top 30 regional integrated marketing agency to devise business development strategies/ tactics for its different business divisions - digital, direct marketing/print, experiential/events, video and digital signage/emerging technologies. Set up CRM/job bag system and trained staff to use; produced creative briefs/client marketing plans, managed projects and mentored junior staff. . Achievements: developed business worth over £600K GP in first months from companies such as Heathrow Express, William Grant & Sons and RBS, mainly through contacts but also in pitch situations involving up to ten agencies; ran successful marketing workshops and training sessions on topics such as SEM for companies including RBS and HTC.

 

•Senior Account Director, Mabox, January 08 to September 08. Responsibilities: account direction, business development/pitching, planning and mentoring less experienced staff on a six month extended contract for this award-winning integrated agency. Achievements: winning/managing the following campaigns: Visit Britain/Radisson SAS ‘check-in, check-out' micro-site, emails. online banners, DM, data modeling (15% response rates, 30% conversion to sale); Imperial War Museum Group viral games, social media campaigns, posters, online PR and DM/CRM development(15-19% upturn in visitor numbers); Tourism Ireland award-winning ‘Fairy Tale' micro-site, data analysis/modeling, e-newsletters and variprint book (over 20% response); KFH.co.uk in-banner registration, CRM and experiential campaigns (roll out delayed to Autumn 09 due to market conditions).

 

•Director of Marketing, Bailey Robinson and Roxtons, August 06 to January 2008. Responsibilities: running marketing programmes and forecasting against plans for both travel companies, mentoring two full time staff, integrating several database systems and feeds into one CRM. Achievements: delivered integrated CRM and successful marketing programmes with conversion rates for both companies averaging 11%- 15% for new prospects and repeat business at 75% for Bailey Robinson/over 90% for Roxtons. Achieved company's best ever sales month in October 2007.

 

•Business Analyst/acting COO, Pacific Investment companies (Media Run, Sporting Frontiers, Imagestate), April 05 to May 06. Responsibilities: devising growth strategies/metrics for Media Run and Sporting Frontiers. Acted as COO for Imagestate, which included the operational management (HR, IT finance) of two offices and an international distributor network, as well as hands on marketing implementation (data modelling /gap analysis; surveys; direct marketing, e-newsletters; website development; product development loyalty schemes; events). Also made tough decision to sell off company assets. Achievements: Cut overheads by 50%, grew distribution network by 300% and improved revenues by over 2000% at Imagestate.

 

PAYE ROLES
•Company Director - Sales & Marketing, Alamy Images Nov 01 to Jan 05 Responsibilities: ran all commercial operations at Alamy, managing business development, call centre, technical, content development and picture research teams in three offices (UK, India, US) as well as a worldwide network of partners/distributors. Set up all company marketing and ran this myself until 2004. Achievements: grew sales from £3K/month revenue at end 2001 to over £1M/month GP in 2004 through development of strong CRM and loyalty schemes. Increased customer base from under 100 in 2001 to over 13,000 by 2004 with repeat buyer rates at 79%. Grew website traffic from hundreds to millions over six months and reached top of Google for ‘stock photography' and other key phrases.

 

•Deputy MD Europe, ScreamingMedia, April 00 to November 01Responsibilities: ran day-to-day operations, including partner and other marketing, content development/packaging and technical services. Achievements: worked with digital agencies such as Sapient and Agency.com, content providers, systems integrators and management consultancies to win contracts with companies such as Opodo, Nokia, Orange, Muller, Boeing and adidas.

 

•Head of Marketing and Business Development - Europe/Asia Pac, Getty Images/PhotoDisc, August 96 to April 00. Responsibilities: set up all regional European/Asian marketing programmes at PhotoDisc, then managed that process centrally via regional staff when at Getty, where I was a member of the senior management team. Achievements: helped grow the European arm of PhotoDisc from a start-up into an attractive target for Getty Images takeover. Managed teams that undertook one of the earliest European ecommerce site developments. Introduced loyalty schemes that increased retention rates and consistently brought in over 25% of PhotoDisc's revenue and ran a self-funding magazine for designers.

 

•Brand and Marketing Development Manager, Adobe Systems Europe, January 94 to August 96. Responsibilities: managed all direct European marketing campaigns for PhotoShop and Illustrator professional and consumer editions at Aldus/Adobe after merger. Worked with central product and technical teams in European and US HQs, regional MDs and UK/regional PR and advertising agencies. Controlled a budget of £10M. Achievements: lead the brainstorming team for Adobe's 'Collection' range (became bestseller ‘Creative Suite') and launched successfully into Europe.

 

•Marketing Development Manager, Logica International/Logica Finance, February. 88 to December 93Responsibilities: initially responsible for all marketing activities for Logica Energy & Utilities and Defence in a central role. Took management role at Logica Finance when marketing was devolved. Was also outsourced as a product manager to Barclays for six months. Achievements: successfully managed those who had been my peers.
Developed Lotus Notes based CRM, bid processes and branding system for all marketing materials from scratch.

 

•Graduate trainee/ Graduate Trainee/Account Executive, Ayer Barker/Charles Barker Group August 85 to February 88Responsibilities: worked on B2C marketing and employee communications projects for Tesco, Arthur Anderson, The London Boroughs of Brent and Greenwich and Scottish & Newcastle/Interbrew. Achievements: set up a new integrated marketing service to attract graduates.
