Michael Thomas Turner, commonly known as Michael Turner, is a professional footballer who plays as a defender. He was born on Novermber 9, 1983 in Lewisham, England. He started his career at Charlton Athletic in 2002 and later in March 2003, he was sent on a loan to Leyton Orient for the rest of the 2002-03 season. Michael Turner returned to Charlton Athletic the following season and was made the captain of Charlton’s reserve squad. He was also named Charlton’s Young Player of the Year for that season.


In August 2004, Michael Turner was loaned out to Brentford initially for a month, which was later extended to two months, and then to three months. In November 2004, by the end of the loan period, he was offered a permanent two-and-a-half year contract by the club for an undisclosed fee. His remarkable performance for the club is reflected by the fact that he was voted the Player’s Player of the Year in the 2004-05 season and Supporters’ Player of the Year in the following season. The club also reached the League One play-offs in the two seasons that Michael Turner was with the team.


In July 2006, Michael Turner was signed by Hull City on a three-year contract for a transfer fee of £350,000, the highest the club had ever paid for a defender till then. After a good first season with the club, he improved further which is proved by the fact that he was voted the Hull City’s Player of the Season and also the Supporters’ Club’s Player of the Year for the 2007-08 season. It was also Hull City’s best-ever season, where they reached the Championship play-offs. Michael Turner was later rewarded with a new three-year contract with the club in April 2008.
