Michael L. Sparacino, Eminent Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine

Dr. Michael L. Sparacino is a highly respected and deeply devoted osteopathic physician. Dr. Michael Sparacino has been practicing medicine for more than 25 years, and has served in two military hospitals along the way. In 1987, Michael Sparacino was director of emergency services for the 51st Medical Group Field Hospital at Osan Air Base in the Republic of Korea, where Dr. Michael Sparacino flew more than 120 medical transport missions.

In 1988, Dr. Michael Sparacino was stationed at the USAF Medical Center at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., where Michael Sparacino was assistant professor of family medicine and provided clinical and academic instruction to medical students and residents.

Throughout Dr. Michael Sparacino’s illustrious medical career, he has touched many lives through his humanitarian efforts and wide-ranging interests in biomedical ethics and the use of medical humanities as teaching tools. In addition, Dr. Michael Sparacino has volunteered his own time for patients and families in rural areas, emphasizing end-of-life care and education.

Dr. Michael Sparacino is the author of more than 20 publications; Michael L. Sparacino has been bestowed with several honors and awards, including the Air Force Commendation Medal and the Mead-Johnson Award for Graduate Medical Education in Family Practice. In addition, Michael L. Sparacino has held five academic appointments, including a clinical professorship at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, which Dr. Michael Sparacino has held since 2003.

Michael Sparacino’s professional appointments include a medical advisorship for the Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention Task Force and ongoing work as an academic reviewer for American Family Physician, Iowa Medicine, and Family Medicine.

Most recently, Michael L. Sparacino has served as the osteopathic program director and director of medical education at the University of Minnesota Mankato Family Medicine Residency in Mankato, Minn., where Dr. Michael Sparacino teaches biomedical ethics programs for osteopathic students and offers quality health care with an emphasis on excellent rural practice and service.
