Michael Johnson is a professional football player who was born on February 24, 1988 in Urmston, England. He has played for England at the international level with the Under-19 team and moved to the U-21 national side in 2007. As of 2008, he has won a total of two international caps for it.
Michael Johnson started his professional career with the youth academy at Everton and later signed with Manchester City youth team in 2004. During his stint at the youth team for two years, he was a part of the squad that reached the 2006 Football Association (FA) Youth Cup final and finished runners-up to Liverpool.
On October 21, 2006, Michael Johnson made his premiership debut for the senior side in a game against Wigan Athletic at the JJB Stadium. A few months later, he made his second first-team appearance in Manchester City’s 2-0 win over Middlesbrough. Following this he became a regular in the side and made seven consecutive first-team appearances.
On August 15, 2007, Michael Johnson scored his first goal for Manchester City in its 1-0 win over Derby County at the City of Manchester Stadium. He netted his second goal for the club in its 1-0 home win against Aston Villa on September 16, 2007. Since 2006, Michael Johnson has made a total of forty one appearances and has also scored two goals for the club.
His exception football skills resulted in him being compared to football legend Colin Bell and England’s mid-fielder Steven Gerrard.
