Melva Covington is a corporate leader and educator who has been a pioneer in the field of public health and health services research for more than 20 years. Since 2010, she has served in a variety of directorial and research management roles in the Pharmaceutical industry with Roche labs (Nutley, NJ), Eli Lilly (Indianapolis, IN) and Sanofi (Bridgewater, NJ). Now as part of the Sanofi team, Melva Covington leads a significant initiative on the research and development team designed to enhance the recruitment and retention of patients in clinincal research, particularly those from diverse racial, ethnic and economic backgrounds. She has utilized her expertise in research, building high performance teams and strategic thinking across a number of therapeutic areas to combat cancer, diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, infant mortality, immunologic disorders and aging.
In addition to her responsibilities at Sanofi, she is devoted to community services and assists nonprofit organizations in building organizational infrastructures and improving service delivery as a principal consultant with AGAPE Strategic Solutions, LLC. and inspirational speaker.
Melva Covington laid the foundation for her successful career as a student of politics and economics at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. After obtaining her bachelor of arts, she matriculated to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-Chapel Hill) to pursue her master of public health in Maternal and Child Health. Dr. Covington went on to earn a PhD from UNC-Chapel Hill and an MBA from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. She is a life long learning who wants to make sure that she has the tools to help, train and sustain the success of others.
