Maynor Figueroa is a professional football player who was born on May 2, 1983 in Jutiapa, Honduras. He is married to Sandra Norales and has a child named Keyrol Alexis.
Maynor Figueroa represents Honduras at the international level. In 2003, he got a call to play for the national side and has been a regular in the side since then. As of 2008, he has won a total of 55 international caps for his national side and has two goals credit.
During the early days of his career, Maynor Figueroa played for Club Deportivo Victoria’s youth team, which is a Honduran football club based in La Ceiba, Atlántida. Later, he was promoted to the senior side of the club and played 24 games for it. He represented the club for three seasons, from 1999 to 2002, and has scored two goals. In the following year, Maynor Figueroa signed with Club Deportivo Olimpia and captained the side. With his impressive performances at this club, he got offers from various Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs and also from various foreign clubs, but the Olimpia's administrator, Osman Madrid, turned down all the offers. In January 2008, he was asked by English Premier League club, Wigan Athletic to participate in a ten day trial, following which he was sent on loan for the Wigan Athletic club for the rest of the season. After an impressive first season at the club, this midfielder extended his loan tenure with the club for another six months. After moving to Wigan Athletic, Maynor Figueroa expressed his desire to prove his mettle in the English Premier League.
